2008 Field Show
Transcontinental
A musical depiction of the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. Starting in Sacramento in the West, and Omaha in the east, the railroad was eventually completed at Promontory, Utah in 1869 with the famous “Golden Spike.” Musical selections include Tempered Steel by Charles Rochester Young, Niagara Falls by Michael Daugherty, With Each Sunset by Richard Saucedo, Ghost Train by Eric Whitacre, and Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland.
